Graduate courses offered by other departments may be recognized as major credits when related to the student's field and approved by the advisor. Restriction on Duplicate Registration Registration for the same course is not permitted, including alternative foreign-language courses. Doctoral students must check for duplication with courses completed or recognized during the master's program. A course with the same title may not be repeated even when the instructor or content differs. Scholarship Application Students are eligible only when they earned at least 4 credits in the previous semester, received no F or U grade, and meet the applicable GPA requirement. Students who completed only courses for which no semester GPA is calculated (research credits, P/F or S/U courses, or credit-exchange courses) are not eligible for a scholarship in the following semester. Students who had completed all required major credits by the end of Spring 2026 will be evaluated for the Spring 2027 scholarship based on cumulative GPA, regardless of the number of credits earned in Fall 2026. Retaking an F-grade Course An F grade is removed only after the same course is retaken and a passing grade is earned. 5 Required Credits for Graduation Students admitted in 2014 or later Required major and research credits vary by department. Confirm the applicable department requirements before registration. Some departments designate Major Required courses. Consult the department curriculum and contact the department for details.
